Wales are full of (baked) beans to get through to the finals at Euro 2016!
After breezing through last week’s quarter-finals at Euro 2016, the Welsh football team are gearing up for their big semi-final match against Portugal on Wednesday, safe in the knowledge they are fuelled by baked beans!
Condor Ferries came to the rescue to deliver emergency supplies of the nation’s favourite breakfast accompaniment to the team, following reports that there were no beans available at the Welsh training camp in Dinard. The ferry operator sourced and transported a very special shipment of 24 catering size tins of baked beans from Jersey to St Malo and on to the team’s hotel.
And it seems that the beans gave Wales the super-charge they needed to power their way through the group stages and past Belgium in last week’s 3-1 quarter-final victory.
Condor Ferries is used to providing a lifeline service with its ferry services between the UK, the Channel Islands and France, but the cross channel ferry operator provided a lifeline service with a difference this time around. With no British cooked breakfast complete without a serving of the nation’s favourite beans, the team at Condor Ferries were more than happy to oblige, donating more than 62kg of beans to the Welsh squad, to help keep them fuelled through the tournament.
Justin Amey, Head of Marketing at Condor Ferries, said: “We’re delighted that the Wales team are powering through their matches, and we can’t wait for Wednesday’s semi-final game against Portugal - we’re so pleased that the baked beans have done the trick! Condor was only too happy to come to the rescue of the Welsh football team, by delivering enough supplies for their cooked breakfasts to keep the players full of beans and helping to blow away their opponents! If they win on Wednesday evening, we’ll make sure that their stocks of beans are topped up, to see them all the way to the final!
